Worldwide, people are becoming increasingly aware of the benefits of physical activity in helping to maintain a high quality of life, and certified athletic trainers are crucial in helping them optimize performance and avoid or remediate injuries.

Athletic trainers care for physically active individuals in a variety of settings, including educational institutions, sports medicine clinics, professional sports programs, hospitals, the military, and industry. Recognized as part of a comprehensive sports medicine team, they work alongside physicians and other healthcare professionals.

Our highly regarded Athletic Training Education Program offers a professional master’s degree in athletic training (MSAT).

The mission of the MSAT is to prepare certified athletic trainers with the clinical knowledge, skills, and professional attitudes that will enable them to deliver health care effectively to diverse patients in a variety of clinical settings, with an emphasis on the pediatric population.

Program Goals:

  • Provide students with the knowledge, clinical skills, and reasoning abilities necessary to practice effectively as a certified athletic trainer.
  • Foster students’ development of the foundational behaviors of professional practice appropriate for athletic training professionals.
  • Offer a breadth of clinical education experiences that enable students to function effectively in a variety of athletic training practice settings.
  • Engage students in the delivery of comprehensive pediatric athletics health care.
